Who do you choose?
Wow what a morning with Jesus! I just love how He wakes me with song on my heart, joy in my soul and teachings that need to be taught. I know it's going to be a great day! In Apollo 13 there is a famous quote and today I am going to use it. "Houston, we have a problem." Let me start out by saying I am a Christian American. And yes I put Christ before being an American, being a Christ follower is the only reason that I am alive. So what is our problem. Let me start out by saying what we don't have- We don't have a money problem, we don't have a racist problem, we don't have a virus problem, we don't have a government problem. What we do have is and hatred and IDOLATRY problem. I have written that God is the vine and we are the branches and if we are living in Christ, His love will show through us. I have looked through various social medias and all I see is what is going on with government, virus, riots, masks but what I truly don't see is hearts being changed for God. We are on the edge of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and if you are not ready to receive Him then you just might lose the chance. I am not afraid to say that everyone that calls on Jesus is of Jesus. That my friends, is actually Biblical. Don't believe me go look it up. So, what is idolatry? The Merriam-Webster describes it as this-1)the worship of a physical object as a god; 2)immoderate attachment or devotion to something. Dictionary.com describes it as this- 1)the religious worship of idols; 2) excessive or blind adoration, reverence, devotion. Well could Christians be put in that category as well for worshiping God. Yes by these definitions we could. But I can guarantee, I would rather have idolatry with God then with something that does not nothing for me, God quiets my soul. He gives me peace when by human standards, I should have none. He gives a love for human beings. I see things differently. And if that makes me a Bible Thumper, Holy Roller, or Jesus Freak then yep that's me. I filter everything through the Holy Spirit. I promise I have not always been this way. But Jesus had to tear down my own idols to get me here. We as a nation are so obsessed with everything going on in this world today, we have made these things our IDOLS. We are more obsessed over these things than we are with our relationship with Christ. And if we truly follow Christ what does He give- Galatians 5:22-23; "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." I could not ask for anything better. In 1 Corinthians 10:14- "Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. " 1 John 5:21- "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." There is plenty Scripture on idolatry in the Bible. What do you obsess with? Where are your thoughts and feelings constantly going to? What are you constantly talking about? Come on, we can do better. I am calling on you Christians to first make sure your hearts are right with God, and then do what He has commanded. I will leave you with one or two last Scriptures. Psalm 135:15-18; "The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear; nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them." And the final Exodus 20:1-17, nope not going to write it, go look it up. Come on people lets be Christian Americans. Have a blessed day and RISE UP!
