What we must do!
Good morning brothers and sisters. This morning's study enlightened me. I know that I have read it but today it seemed to hit home. I don't know why. Wait a minute, yes I do. Jesus showing me something, something that I am ready to learn. Something that needs to be said. I am so happy when it all clicks. Sometimes I expect people to act the way Christ did. But the people I want to act like Christ, don't live for Christ. So how can I expect them to live like Christ if they don't first see Christ in me. I always get told that I am much harder on Christians than I am on the world. Well, I know why. Because we profess to belong to Him and when we profess that, then we should act like it. We know Christ. I know this scripture is talking of sexual immorality but it could apply to all sin. Let's take a look at this. I Corinthians 5:1-13. Yes, I know it's long but what a lesson for us to learn. We don't have to accept the outside world, we accept Jesus. We sometimes simply say no and walk away. 1- It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles- that a man has his father's wife! Ok this sin is so bad that even those who lived in the world would not even consider it. And I think we have surpassed this! I said what I said! 2- And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. They excused it and let it continue. 3- For I indeed as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has done this deed. Now remember this is INSIDE the church. This is the being spoken to the body of believers. 4- In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5- deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. It must be dealt with. 6- Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? All it takes is a little toe of evil, of sin to walk through the doors of your church and it will leave the whole church corrupted. 7- Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover was sacrificed for us. 8- Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. We don't allow it in the church. I am not just talking about that building where you go on Sundays. I am talking about yourselves. Do you have those around you that profess Jesus is Lord but that is as far as it goes. Nothing in their lives portray Jesus! God says remove it and start over. That is exactly what I am doing. But lets look on. 9- I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10- Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11- But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone NAMED a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an extortioner- not even to eat with such a person. All about those who claim to follow Jesus Christ, not the outside world. This right here is why I speak to those who claim to be of Jesus. He tells us to hold each other accountable. We are held to God's standard not the world. It doesn't make us better. It doesn't make us mightier. What it makes us is humble, holy and forgiven. That is what we are to show the world. And sometimes all it takes is a simple "NO! I will not." But lets keep going. 12- For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13- But those who are outside God judges. Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person. We just can't allow anything that God says is a sin to enter in. So this tells me, we must be watchful. We must stay in communication with the Holy Spirit. He will discern any and all new souls that enter the church. We will know. So now you know! God calls us to hold each other accountable when we profess that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. Have a blessed day! Rise up child of God, rise up!
