What is gone and what has stayed?
As I sit and study the word of God, a lot of people do not understand why I study the Old Testament because Jesus came. I have never studied the Old Testament before, sure I have read it but God laid it upon my heart to go and study the foundation on which the New Testament is built upon. We are too busy trying to forget our history that we have forgotten that if we study our history then we are least likely to repeat it. But if we act as if it didn't happen or refuse to study it then we will surely repeat it. So I got to wondering why does one think that since Jesus came that the Old Testament does not apply to us? I got busy asking God and asking the Holy Spirit to help guide me. And you know what, they did. Never fails that when one is truly seeking to understand God's word, that He delivers. So the first that I want to build on is in Matthew 5, written in red. 17- "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." Jesus only took away the sacrificial law none other. We are to obey all other commands of God. Jesus didn't take away the 10 Commandments but took them a step farther. He made them better and also stricter. So if I don't know my foundation, my history, how would I really and truly understand what Christ did for me. I have been teaching in Exodus and I can tell you that after studying all they had to do for redemption, THANK YOU Jesus for willingly going to the cross. I am hear to tell you it was a lot. We got Jesus. Also there is a lot of Scripture that points to Jesus being the Messiah and if you don't study it how are you to know. Someone told you. Most people want to know for themselves. So go and get into the Old Testament, find study partners, find a small Bible study group where you can actually break down God's word. Then when you understand it, apply it. There are many lessons for us to learn in the Old Testament. And if you want to know what is going on 2021, take a walk through the Old Testament and you will see, that history is repeating itself. And it is all because we don't want to take the time to study God's Word and I mean study not just read. He also has the most amazing promises in the Old Testament and yes they are for you and me. My God does not change. The same God of the Old Testament is the same God of 2021. Be blessed and rise up children of God, rise up!
