What is a word?
Good morning brothers and sisters. You know I have discovered something and I promise it has made my life so much greater. They say words hurt and I suppose they do. But what I have noticed in dealing with family and friends and also strangers, is that true words hurt. Sure people can say mean things and talk about you, but when it is not true, it doesn't seem to hurt as bad. You know the truth. For the past two days I have had scripture on words and where does words of truth come from? Jesus. Psalm 119:105- Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Ok here is another John 17:17- Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. So who or what is the truth? Who or what is the word? Well, John 1:1 tells us- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. We find the truth of words in Jesus. He tells us the truth, not my truth and not your truth but THE truth. See there is really only one truth, we all have opinions. We all see things differently but that doesn't make it the absolute truth. The only absolute truth is Jesus Christ. And when I live in Jesus Christ, my words edify not hurt. Ephesians 4:29- Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. I know the truth hurts sometimes. In this crazy world, basic common truths seem to send people over the edge. But here it is Jesus is truth. And when we stand on Jesus' truth and see us the way Jesus sees us, those words don't hurt. We know who we are in Christ. If you are speaking Jesus' truth with love and mercy then stand tall when they speak ill of you. Don't use God's word for personal gain but for the sake of others. Sometimes a simple no is enough. Have a blessed day! Rise up child of God, rise up!
