To Live
Good Morning all. Today I am alive. Today I get to try and be what Christ has in store for me. Today I get to learn more of the ways that Jesus Christ wants me to live. Today I get to chew on more meat for the soul not drink milk. So let's turn to Hebrews 5:11 "We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again." Why do people in church their whole lives need to hear that Christ came to the earth, ministered while on this earth, took the cross that we should have carried, nailed himself to the cross and was crucified. We seem to preach and teach this message every Easter but why? Do we not know what Christ did for us? Why do we have to be reminded? This scripture above is asking the very same thing. Why do we have to start at the beginning every sermon? Then it goes on to say this: "You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by CONSTANT use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." Why as Christians have we not moved from the milk. You know why, we love our sin and moving onto solid food would show our sin that we love so much and then we would have to do something about it. When we do not step to the next level of commitment to Christ we are crucifying him all over again. (Hebrews 6:4-6). I don't know about you but I think one crucifixion is enough. He doesn't call us all to be the same thing. If we turn to Ephesians 4:11 this is what it says: "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until WE ALL reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become MATURE, attaining to the WHOLE measure of the fullness of Christ." But also in 1 Corinthians 27-31 "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? Do all have the gift of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way." He calls each of us to something. But we have to move away from the milk and start eating the solid food. So I will leave you with this last remark in 2 Timothy 4:1-2- "In the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give YOU this charge: PREACH the word, be PREPARED in season and out of season, CORRECT; REBUKE and ENCOURAGE- with great PATIENCE and CAREFUL instruction." God is calling you to be mature in him, get past the comfortable of knowing about Jesus Christ and get into the crashing waves and KNOW Jesus. Have a blessed and RISE UP!
