The controversy "I AM"
Good morning brothers and sisters. Yesterday we looked at the seven "I AM" statements. In those seven statements, Jesus compared Himself to something that humans would know. He used the "I AM" statement metaphorically, but very powerful. This was something we could and can all relate too. But there is one more "I AM" statement that was reserved for the Father. But Jesus used it because He could. He knew where He came from, He knew what He was sent to do, and He knew where He was returning too. So let's look at this verse. John 8:58- Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, "I AM." He used the this statement to connect and be one with God. Don't believe me. Lets go back to Exodus. In Exodus 3: 13-14 Moses was sent to Egypt, he asked God who should he say who sent Him. 13- Then Moses said to God, "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?" 14- And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, "I AM" has sent me to you." This statement until Jesus was reserved for God and God alone. But now Jesus was using it and the people did not like it. They considered it blasphemy. Go back to John 8:59- Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. Do we react to Jesus the same way? When Jesus becomes what you need, do you reject Him or welcome Him in with open arms. He is all we need. Jesus is One with God. Jesus is the One who was sent to save us. Will you let Him be all that you need today? He wants too. Have a blessed day! Rise up child of God, rise up!
