Resisting?
Good morning brothers and sisters. This morning as I was studying the word resist kept coming to my mind. So I wanted to fully understand what the word resist means. It means to withstand, to strive against or oppose. Now we resist things all day every day. But I want to look at it Biblically. 1 Peter 5:8-9. Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. RESIST him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. We are told to resist the devil. With that being said, we are able to resist him. But there is also another kind of resisting. Resisting of the Holy Spirit. Acts 7:51-You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in the heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. See we can not resist the devil if we are resisting the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells us to receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:22- And when He had said this, He BREATHED on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit." We must receive the Holy Spirit. Our spirit must be willing to SUBMIT to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. John 15:26- But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. We must stop resisting the Holy Spirit, if we don't, we can't resist our enemy- Satan. We will not know how. Rise up child of God, rise up!
