Our Calling
Good Morning all. What is God calling us to do? I have seen some scriptures on social media. Here is one that comes to mind and I see quite often- "But know this that in the last days perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!" 2 Timothy 3:1-5. But before we go calling anyone else out on this, we need to look at ourselves. Are we any of those? That is mighty long list, does any of those describe you? But if we go back a chapter God tells us how HE wants US to be. "remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be DILIGENT to present yourself APPROVED TO GOD, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane AND idle babblings for they WILL increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer. (Side note: Those who claim to be of Christ but do quite the opposite, their message is louder than the true follower of Christ.) Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. (Side note- again God gave examples of two who were talking of their own accord and they had followers). Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are His, and Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself of the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. (Is your vessel clean?) Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to ALL, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and ESCAPE the snare of the devil, HAVING BEEN TAKEN CAPTIVE BY HIM (SATAN) TO DO HIS WILL. 2 Timothy 2:14-26. Christians this is what God is calling of us. No not everyone teaches, not everyone preaches but call on Jesus to see what your calling is. Maybe your the organizer, maybe your are the cook that keeps the body fed. We are all of use to God and He gave us all a calling on our hearts. It is up to us to seek that calling and walk in the path of Jesus Christ. Am I perfect, uh NO! Do I get it right all the time? UH NO AGAIN! But what I do allow to happen is I let the Holy Spirit take out the bad in me and fill it with Jesus. Sometimes it is painful, sometimes I fight it but in the long run I just wished that I done it the way Jesus had told me from the beginning. Let's do what Paul says at the end of his journey in 2 Timothy 4:7- "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH!" Have a blessed day and RISE UP! RISE UP FOR CHRIST!
