Our calling
Good Morning all. I hope today is a glorious day. It is a little chilly this morning after the storm but it smells oh so fresh. Jesus left the freshness for a brand new day and a new calling. So let's just get right into this starting in Luke 4:38. Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon's mother in law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them. (He commanded the fever to leave and it did. The people in that room must have had faith to move the mountain. Why do we not see that kind of miracles today? Because of our faith and our relationship with Jesus.) At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Moreover, demons came out of many people shouting You are the Son of God! But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah. (How is it that demons come out shouting that Jesus is the Messiah but we as human beings can't accept him? What amazes me the most is that the people saw all these things and still they did not believe in Him.) At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. (I bet he was physically tired. He went to a place alone to recharge. Where do you go and whom to do you go to to recharge?) The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving. (Did the people go looking for Jesus because of what they could do for him or what he could do for them? Do we approach Jesus the same way? Do hear what he is calling US to do? We ask him for prayer request all the time and that is Biblical but do we answer his calling?) But he said, "I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent." And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea. Jesus knew why he was sent. Do you know why Jesus is calling you? He is calling but let me be clear he will only call so long. Please answer the phone, answer the text whatever. Do not harden your hearts so hard that you can not hear Jesus' voice any more. I pray today that everyone reading this message will know what Jesus is calling them to do. Have a blessed day.
