Opening my eyes
Good morning brothers and sisters. I sit every morning and study the word of God. I get up earlier so that I may have some time with the Lord before the day gets started. I want to know what His word says and what it means. I thoroughly enjoy getting into God's word. It wasn't always like this. I use to only open my Bible on Sundays and when we would have small Bible study groups. I can honestly say that I didn't understand the Bible. I would rely on the pastor and the teachers. It wasn't until one day that I decided to know the Lord for myself. Seek Him for myself. Learn from Him. When I truly started seeking and living then I could understand scripture and how it applied to me, my community, people and the world. It didn't come easy at first because I also didn't really know how to pray to God. And this morning as I was reading, I read where Jesus opens the understanding. Luke 24:44-45. 44-Then He said the them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning me." Now take note these words spoken by Jesus was after the crucifixion but before the ascension. But it is really verse 45 that hit me. 45- And He opened their understanding that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Now it was Jesus who opened their hearts and eyes and ears and minds to Scriptures. And Jesus has done the same for me. When I don't understand, I stop and pray. Then I search the Bible to find the answers because the Bible explains itself. It is through the Holy Spirit that allows me to break down the word of God and be able to teach it. I am not always popular with people but I know that when I speak the word of God, it is from God. See that is a fear of mine, that when I speak, I don't understand and do not speak correctly. But with the Holy Spirit guiding me and leading me, the words always come, the understanding always comes. So ask Him to open your understanding and He will. He always gives me what I need. Have a blessed day and rise up child of God, rise up!
