Listening to Wisdom
Dear Gracious Heavenly Father, today I ask you to give us boldness to speak the truth in love. Let us proclaim your grace and mercy and all of your ways. Let us that follow you show the world what it means to have joy in all circumstances. Amen. "Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:'How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my make my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you; when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not chose the fear of the Lord, would none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroy them; but whoever listens to will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster. Proverbs 1:20-33. This tells that Wisdom is begging for us to listen but yet we continue on our own path. This seems harsh that she would laugh out at our troubles but had we listened then maybe the troubles would not have come or we would have joy through them all. She says that if we continue to ignore, when we need wisdom we will not be able to find. Jesus said the same thing. If we look for him, we will find him. But if we continue to ignore him, when we search for him, he will not be found. I beg of you to listen to what wisdom is saying to you. I just love the last verse, it says to those that listen we will secure and at ease. Are you at ease with all that is going on in the world today? Do you feel secure in the world? Remember Jesus says, "Take heart, I have overcome the world." So today listen to what He has to say. Take that wisdom and put it to practice so others can see you and say that is how I want to live.
