Lessons from Jesus
Good morning brothers and sisters. We have three days until the new year. I am so excited and looking forward to what God has in plan, not just for me but for us all. Like I have said several times, the only thing that is weighing heavy on my heart is change and move. Now I don't know exactly how that is going to look but I am excited none the less. But for today, I am preparing and learning the lessons that Jesus is teaching me. I am learning to let go and let God. My life is not mine. So I want to turn to Matthew 5: 13-16. Now these are Jesus' words so lets see what He has to say. 13- You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. Salt is used for many things. Salt seasons our food to give it extra taste. Salt preserves food for the long haul. He called us this as we are to preserve His truth as He speaks it. But if we don't then it is good for nothing. I don't know about you but that hurts. 14- You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15- Not do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16- Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. We are to light the path for a darkened world. We are to let them see. They will first see the good works that Jesus creates in us and it will baffle them. Then when asked, we say one simple word-JESUS! He is why we do what we do. He is who we are! We don't always have to be able to quote scripture at the drop of the hat. But we do need to know what God has written down for us so we are always prepared. Are you salt and light? Have lost your saltiness? Have you hidden your light? Now, today, is the time to get new salt and take your light out from under the basket and let it shine. Have a blessed day! Rise up child of God, rise up!
