Jesus is All!
Good morning brothers and sisters. You know I have heard my whole life that Jesus is coming soon. I turned my back on Him, came back to Him, turned my back on Him, came back to Him. Now that I am back, I will not turn again. I wished I would have stayed the first time but you know things do happen. The world is very convincing. And we never think this is our time to go. We live life the way we want to. I wondered how bad does it have to get before He returns. As I got older and learned to let the Holy Spirit teach me, it can get a whole lot worse. I also learned that when God says something it will come to pass, we just don't know when. I didn't quiet understand that nor to be honest was I ever taught to listen to the Holy Spirit. So this morning I am back in 2 Peter with a promise that we need to hold to. 2 Peter 3: 1-9. 1- Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2- that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3- knowing this first; that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4- and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." One this is how we know that the prophets from the Old Testament should be taught and studied. They give us insight. They have lessons for us. They have ways that we do not need to follow. And it also shows that in this day, they questioned about His coming. But we also need to remember, they didn't believe He was the Messiah at all. God uses people like me to gently remind us of what is true and holy. 5- For this they WILLFULLY forget; that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water, 6- by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. He reminds them of the time when God had enough once before and only saved the righteous. 7- But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. The word of God is not lacking here. He tells us exactly what is going to happen. He will not destroy the earth until judgment. 8- But, beloved, DO NOT FORGET this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Time is different for God than it is for us. He doesn't look at time in the way we do. There is a plan, God's plan. We must have faith to put all of our trust in Him and not what is going on in the world. His timing is always perfect. 9- The Lord IS NOT slack concerning HIS promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. This means He is waiting on the children that will accept Him. He knows their hearts. That is our job. To live holy and godly lives so they will come to Him. Our job is to point them to Jesus and the saving grace of the cross. Do not be afraid. Repent, refresh, revive. Rise up child of God, rise up!
