Is your kitchen light on?

This morning as I was walking into the kitchen, I immediately turn the light on so I can see. I know my kitchen, I know where everything is at in my kitchen. So why do I turn on the light to see? Because darkness is not good. Jesus says in Matthew 5:13-16- "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor how shall it be seasoned. It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it fives light to all who are in the house." I will go on to the verse 16 in a moment. When I turn on the light in my kitchen, I truly get to see where all things are. I don't stump my toe on something that I have misjudged. Or did my husband move something and I now have ran into it. No, I turn on the light to see. Jesus talks all throughout about being the Light. If Jesus is living in us then His light must shine through. We don't hide the light when we want to see. Jesus said in John 8:12- "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." Jesus says He is the light and IF we follow Him we will not follow the darkness. If we have a continuous relationship with Jesus it will be hard for us to sin. Do we sin? YES! But when we are in a relationship with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will convict our hearts immediately and we will go and sin no more. Jesus also says in John 12:35-36-"Then Jesus said to the, A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walk in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you become sons of light. These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them." Just like in my kitchen, if we walk in darkness we do not know what lies ahead. But when I turn on the kitchen light, I can see all things exactly like they are. So, if I walk with Jesus and Jesus walks with me then I have the light and I KNOW where I am going and who I am going with. Also Jesus says in John 12:46- "I have come as a light into the world that whoever believes in Me SHOULD NOT ABIDE IN DARKNESS!" If we are truly in a relationship with Jesus then we will not be in darkness. We know the Father and the Father knows us. And my favorite of all time is found in 2 Corinthians 4:16- "For it is the God who COMMANDED light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to GIVE the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." God commanded the light. So is your kitchen light on or do you hide it? If your kitchen light is not on then you are walking in darkness and that is not where Jesus is. Come on world let's be the Light of Jesus. Turn the kitchen lights on in our hearts and show the world the bright light of Jesus Christ. Back to Matthew 5:16- "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven." Have a blessed day! RISE UP!
