Is the church this?

Good morning brothers and sisters. This question I asked came from a very sad conversation yesterday. I spoke with not one but two wonderful ladies. But the conversation broke my heart. We are called to be doers of the word. We don't just hear the word but we put the word into action. Do we care more for the stuff than we do the people? They wouldn't even entertain coming inside a church because of "Christians". You noticed I put that in quotation marks because I use it loosely. Have we just become hearers and not doers. James warns us of this. James 1:21-27. 21- Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness and receive meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. God plants the word into your heart and nourishes it and helps it to grow. We still have to do our part. 22- But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. See when we are only hearers, we deceive ourselves. We must do the word. And these two ladies represented someone only hearing the word. 23- For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24- for he observes himself, goes away and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. Now who forgets who they are when they walk away from a mirror? Well, sounds ridiculous. But that is what we do when we only hear the word, we forget what kind of man God has created us to be. 25- But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Now look at what happens when we are both. We are blessed. We have to be both. 26- If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Have you notice we deceive ourselves. We allow the haughtiness and pride to set it. We don't recognize it for what it is. So then we go back and only be hearers of the word and not doers. Jesus has the answer. 27- Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. When we are consistently hearers and doers, we are not brought into the world and we are righteous. We have to be both. I am going to visit these two ladies every week and introduce them to the Jesus I know. I am going to be a hearer and a doer. Call me radical but this is how Jesus did it and He is my example. Repent, refresh, revive. Rise up children of God, rise up!
