Holy Week- Thursday!
Good morning brothers and sisters. It is the day before and a lot is happening. If you don't know what this means- then let me tell you. It is the day before death for our dear Savior. They are preparing for Passover. They have the last supper. I do want to look at that. Matthew 26:26-30. 26-And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body. 27- Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28- For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29- But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom." 30- And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. This is the Lord's Supper. Jesus tells Peter that he will deny him. Jesus goes and prays and I want you to look at Jesus in this prayer. Look at Him in the physical. 26:39- He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." We see Jesus in the physical as someone who has the emotions of His children. He knows what is about to happen and He knows the physical pain He is about to go through. But also look at the spiritual, not Jesus' will but the Father's. Do we do that? No matter what lies ahead, do we say, "not my will but yours Father!" Then Jesus is betrayed by Judas and handed over to Annas and then over to Caiaphas- the High Priest. Here Jesus is sentenced to die. Matthew 26:65-68. 65- Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! 66- What do you think?" They answered and said, "He is deserving of death." 67- Then they spat in His face and beat Him, and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?" Tomorrow is the day! Do you really understand the significance? He is about to die for you. But He went through mockery, beatings first. I just want you to understand what YOUR Savior did for YOU! Rise up child of God, rise up!
