Holy Week- Saturday!
Good morning brothers and sisters. Today is the day after. Jesus has been crucified. He has been laid in the tomb. The stone has been set in place. The followers of Jesus are in mourning. But on today they place a guard in front of the tomb. Matthew 27:62-66. 62- On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, 63- saying, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, "After three days I will rise!" 64- "Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, He has risen from the dead. So the last deception will be worse than the first." 65- Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how." 66- So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard. Now not much for the disciples were happening because this was Sabbath. They followed Sabbath laws. But look at the chief priests and the Pharisees. They are not following. Rules for thee but not for me. They are so unsure of who Jesus really was that they had to come up with a lie. They were so unsure that He would walk right out of that tomb. They had to do all that they could so they would not be made to be liars. They were scared of this man. Not because He was scary but He knew things that they themselves did not. He could match them with God's Holy Word. He challenged the lifestyle that they had made for themselves. They were scared of Jesus!!! So why should we be afraid if we are the children of God? We should not. Prepare for tomorrow. The saddest and one of the greatest days in our life has just now passed. How will you prepare for the greatest day tomorrow? Rise up child of God, rise up!
