Foundation

Good Morning all. It has been at least 4 days since I last wrote. I have been fixing my foundation. Not the foundation on my house but my foundation in Christ Jesus. Just like you, I let life get in the way, I let the world get in my head and I have to fix the cracks in my foundation so my house will not fall. Turn with me to Luke 6:49. Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do no do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. (Jesus tells us to come him, listen to him, put his words into practice into our lives and he will show us how to live. Far too long we have just sit by and let others dictate how we are suppose to act. The Bible clearly tells us how to act and who to listen to.)They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. (Have you dug down and got to the heart of the matter. Have you dug deep enough to get to the foundation?) When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.(Notice that the scripture did not say that some paint would not come off. It did not say a shingle would not fly off but it did say that it would not be shaken. When we build our faith on the Rock, that is Jesus Christ, the storms of life will not shake our house off the foundation.) But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete. When we just listen to the word of God and do not follow the word of God this is what happens. Our house falls. And in this day and age, I see that our houses have fallen. We have many that claim to be Christians but do not follow God's commands. We don't study the Bible for ourselves, we don't pray like we should. I think we feel that our relationship with Jesus is just fine, when in fact our house is built on sinking sand. Many have shown this through the hard times that they go through. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12 starting with verse 4: In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that address you as a father addresses his son? It says, My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not loose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son. So instead of asking why all the time, let's start asking what lesson, Lord. What are you trying to teach me so I can fill the cracks in my foundation? And remember in Luke 8:10 Jesus says "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, though seeing, they may not see, though hearing, they may not understand. If our foundation is built on Jesus, then we will see and we will understand. Those who build on sinking sand are just the opposite. So ask God today, what lesson and let him fill the cracks in your foundation. Have a blessed day!
