Do we understand?
Good morning brothers and sisters. As I awoke this wonderful morning, with prayer still on my heart for my brothers and sisters who lost their loved ones this week, I am filled with awe of what Jesus did for us. Do we really understand what He did? Most of us play it off as He came from heaven, showed us how to live and then died for us. But do we truly understand what He gave up to become a sinless sacrifice for us? Lets look at Philippians 2:7- but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a BONDSERVANT, and coming in the likeness of men. He took off His heavenly glory, laid it aside. He came from a place where there was no suffering, no tears, no pain and came to a place where all of that is so prevalent. He became a bondservant. You may ask, what is a bondservant? A bondservant is one who chooses to obey His Master without expecting any form of payment in return. Jesus came to be our bondservant whether we choose Him or not. He chose us. And we have the choice to become a bondservant to Jesus or not. Do we follow Jesus only because we expect blessings? What if all you got for the life of following Christ was eternal life with Him? Would you still be on board? Now lets look at verse 8- And being found in appearance as a man. He HUMBLED Himself and became OBEDIENT to the point of death, even the death of the cross. He took on our very form to live as we live, to struggle as we struggle, to die as we die. But the difference He was obedient to God the Father until death. Are we that obedient in our life with Jesus? Are we willing to be humiliated, mocked, accused of wrong for the sake of Jesus? Today, I devote my life to being a bondservant of Jesus. I know this road will not be easy but I chose Jesus anyway. How about you? Have a blessed day and rise up children of God, rise up!
