Covenant Broken

With all that has been laid heavy on my heart, here is another. We have broken God's covenant. We do not obey Him. We obey man and even when we know that it goes against the very core our soul. But why do we do it? We are in a war, but it is a war against the spiritual. Ephesians 6:10-12 tell us so. "Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against the flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in he heavenly realms." Now that being said, we have a war raging and we as Christ followers have broken the covenant with God. Jeremiah 11:1-5. "This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: Listen to the terms of this covenant and tell them to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem. Tell them that this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Cursed is the one who does not obey the terms of this covenant-the terms I commanded your ancestors when I brought the out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace. I said, Obey me and do everything I COMMAND you, and you will be my people, and I will be your God. Then I will fulfill the oath I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey- the land you possess today. I answered, Amen Lord." God tells us that we have broken the covenant by not doing what he tells us to. But I hear this too often, but Kim that is the Old Testament. And I say, the Old Testament is our history. Our history with God. But just to appease those that don't use the Old Testament here you go. Romans 1:5 "Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that come from the faith for his name's sake." Hello, Gentiles, he calls us to obedience with Him. Ok not satisfied yet, so here are a few more. John 15:9-10. "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. IF you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love." Guys, I can go on and on about keeping the commands of the Father. What are his commands? Well you need to open the Bible and get in there because God has some commands if we are to be called his children. He has rules for us to follow. Start with the 10 Commandments. Then read the red letters. Jesus can tell you how to act. We have to get past once again the religion part and get to the heart part. Leaders this is for you if you put religion over God. Matthew 23:1-4. "Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them." Now I know there are a some amazing people in leadership and take God's Word very seriously, this was not for you. But I also know that there are some leaders out there that every time they speak it is to give a comfortable message. Leaders, teach about hell. Teach about following Jesus along with believing in Jesus. We all have to come together and be GOD'S PEOPLE. Not people of religion. Now back to Jeremiah 11:6-8. My final thought. "The Lord said to me, Proclaim all these words in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem" Listen to the terms of this covenant and FOLLOW them. From the time I brought your ancestors up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again, saying, OBEY ME. But they did not listen or pay attention: instead, they followed the stubbornness of their evil hearts. So I brought on them all the curses of the covenant I had command them to follow but they did not keep." What is God commanding all Christ Followers? Let's get in the Word, let's get to a church building where the teaching is based on God's Word, let's get out of our comfort zone and prepare to fight a good fight. God is calling, are you answering? RISE UP!
