Can we tame this?

Good morning brothers and sisters. Do you know want to know what my greatest fear is? You could guess a million and one things but most would be wrong. My greatest fear EVER is teaching something that is not Biblical. Yes, I fear that more than anything. To most people that sounds crazy but I would never want to cause someone to stumble just because of what I perceive as knowledge. The knowledge that I do have comes from the Lord and that is all. But does He tame my tongue or is that my choice. I am beginning to open my eyes to the hard stuff. And yes, I am harder on myself and those who call themselves Christ-followers. Because we are suppose to know how to behave. But the one thing we can not or will not get right, is taming the smallest muscle in our entire body. Don't believe me! Let's go back to James. James 3:1-12. If this makes you mad or uncomfortable- then GOOD! 1- My brethren let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. Now do you understand why I am so scared. But I also know that since God called me to it, I must be obedient and stay connected to Him. 2- For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. See since we are not perfect, can we control our tongue? Let's read on. 3- Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4- Look also at ships; although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. So with these two examples, can we tame the tongue? The answer is yes, with Jesus Christ leading our lives, yes, we can tame the tongue. 5- Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. You know it is not always just the words, it is how we present it. Our tone, but most importantly our hearts. What we say, is it with love or hatred? That is our only two options. And Jesus is not one of them. 7- For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tame and has been tamed by mankind. We can tame just about everything but...8- But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. But why or why can't we just control our tongue. You know why-PRIDE!!!!! 9- With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10- Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren these things ought not to be so. See can't do both. Out of our mouths pours out of our hearts. So if you pouring hatefulness out of your mouth, maybe it is time to let Jesus examine your heart. 11- Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12- Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh. See we can't produce hatred and love. Not possible for the true follower of Christ. Examine yourself and humble yourself before the Lord. He will show what needs to be corrected. Repent, refresh. revive. Rise up children of God, rise up!
