Can we do it?
Good morning brothers and sisters. Today, I am wondering about holiness. I have heard my whole life, you are not perfect, no one is. And while that is very true, what about holiness? Can we even obtain it? Not only is it possible, it is also required. But what does being holy mean? Well first of all being holy is being set apart for the honorable work of Jesus Christ. It is written in Leviticus 20:26- And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine. Now you will say, I really am tired of hearing it, that is in the Old Testament. Well, if He didn't want us to do it, it would not have been put in the Bible. But Peter also quotes it for us. 1Peter 1:16- because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." We are to be holy. We are to be set apart. Not better but holy. We are no different in the unbeliever except (I hope), we have chosen to live a life according to Jesus Christ. And to be holy one must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We pursuit holiness on this earth and final holiness is obtain when we leave this earth. God expects us to cultivate a lifestyle of holiness and going back to 1 Peter lets look at the previous verses. 1 Peter 1:13-16. Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, Be holy, for I am holy. We act different because we are different. We are set apart from the world. Lets get moving on the kingdom business. Lets humble ourselves and be of use to God. The enemy is moving, are we? Rise up child of God, rise up!
