Back to understanding!

Good morning brothers and sisters. I want to go back to a very basic principal. I also think the word has lost so much meaning. What is that word? Christian. Yes what does that mean? To be a Christian is to be Christ-like and none of are Christ, so we will make mistakes and stumble. But we are to allow the Holy Spirit to lead our lives so we can be as Christ-like as we can in this broken world. Lets look at what a Christian is according to the Bible, not what you and I think but what Jesus says it is. 1st- John 3:3- Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Must be born again and to that is spirit. 2nd- 2nd Corinthians 5:17- Therefore, if anyone, is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. See we are not just an improved person of the old self, we are brand new. We are changed. The old things are dead and gone. The new person is born again. So that takes care of acting anyway we want. Sin when we are born of the Spirit of Christ, we turn from habitual sin. 1 John 3:6-Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. That is pretty crystal clear. If we are truly in Christ and He abides in us, we sin no more. When we have a moment of fleshiness, then we hit our knees and repent real quick. We are aware that we have sinned. Now let me be clear, just because someone goes to the alter does not necessarily mean that they have been saved. It is a life of Christ that saves us not some moment in time. We have accepted Jesus in our lives and we have truly become Christ-like. Now that doesn't happen overnight. When we choose to give our lives to Christ, we must look for Godly men and women to help us on this journey. Because the enemy will seek to destroy you and destroy he will; if you are with others who will help you along the way. The word Christ-like has lost its meaning. Lets bring it back. Rise up child of God, rise up!
