Another birth; another response

Good morning brothers and sisters. I hope this day finds you blessed. Today we are looking at another birth and this is the birth of our Savior. I want us to look at Mary's response. Luke 1. 26- Now in he sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27- to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. Now if you didn't know but I bet you did. This is Jesus' earthly parents. Also note it is the same angel that went to Elizabeth. Gabriel is a messenger of God. 28- And having come in, the angel to said to her, "Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among the women!" What a way to greet someone. But what do you think was going on through Mary's head. She is highly favored by God. 29- But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Now we know. Mary was afraid. When God says we are highly favored, it also means He has big plans for us. And I think what Mary was about to find out was a pretty big plan. 30- Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31- And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son and shall call His name Jesus. 32- He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33- And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there will be no end." How would you take that news? Your Son will have a kingdom to no end. See at this time Mary did not know what that meant. She was still thinking earthly. We know this because of her response. 34- Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" Mary knew that she had done nothing that would cause her to get pregnant. So she is still thinking in earthly terms. Why wouldn't she? But except an angel appeared to her and told her that she was highly favored. But the angel will explain. 35- And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God." Now see he didn't tell her all of this at the beginning. He gave the news to her as she needed it and could handle it. Isn't God wonderful that way? He only gives us the details as we need them. He knows that with all the news, we would be overwhelmed. He gives as needed. So if you don't know the full plan, just wait, God will give the rest as needed. 36- "Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this now the sixth month for who was called barren. 37- For with God nothing will be impossible." Now why did he tell Mary this? He told her so that she would know that God is working miracles throughout the lands. That He had a plan and that these babies would be connected. God is the the God of impossible. 38- Then Mary said, "Behold the maid-servant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. Now that is how Mary handled the news. Let your will Lord be done. I am willing! Is that how we respond when Jesus calls us to something? Have a blessed day! Rise up child of God, rise up!
